2024 Fall Sports: A Season of Championship Glory and Historic Achievements

The 2024 Fall Sports season has concluded, leaving behind a trail of outstanding achievements and memorable moments. From championship wins to record-breaking performances, our teams showcased incredible skill, dedication, and teamwork. Highlights include the Girls Varsity Soccer team clinching their second consecutive HVAL Championship title, while the Boys Cross Country team achieved a historic runner-up finish—its highest honor to date. The following is a look at the standout performances from each team, including our award winners and notable accomplishments.

Girls Varsity Soccer:

Coaches Tresnan and Kressley

Record: 14-2-2

The Girls Varsity Soccer team had an incredible season, finishing with an impressive 14-2-2 record and securing a second consecutive HVAL Championship title. The Blues opened the season with a dominant win against Watkinson and continued their strong performance with victories over teams such as The Harvey School, Forman School, Eagle Hill School, and Christian Heritage School. Key contributions came from Marlee Anselmi ’25, Sarah Harvey ’27, and Ally Iacobellis ’26, along with solid defense led by Senior Captains Natalie Boissevain ’25 and Skylar Raymond ’25.

The season culminated in a semifinal win over Christian Heritage School, advancing the team to the finals, where they defeated The Harvey School to claim the HVAL title. Although they suffered a tough loss to Hoosac in the NEPSAC New England Tournament quarterfinals, the team finished the season as both HVAL Champions and WWNEPSSA Class D Conference winners, marking a highly successful and memorable campaign.

Varsity Cross Country

Coaches Jennings and Martin

Record: 11-3-0

The Varsity Cross Country team had an impressive season, highlighted by the boys’ team earning the HVAL Runner-Up title, the highest in team history. Key contributors included Jaidel Thomas ’26, who won multiple meets, and Rodgers ’26, who consistently finished near the top. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams excelled in races against The Forman School, The Harvey School, and at the Auer Farm Invitational. The season also saw course records broken, with Thomas setting the Boys’ Course Record at 20:06 and Alexa Pesarik ’28 setting the Girls’ Course Record at 24:29.

At the HVAL Championships, Thomas and Rodgers finished third and fifth, respectively, securing the runner-up title for the boys. On the girls’ side, Lena Cosentino ’29 earned a third-place finish. At the NEPSTA Division IV Championships, Thomas and Rodgers helped the boys’ team place 11th out of 27, while Cosentino and Pesarik earned All-Star honors for their strong performances.

The season concluded with four runners—Cosentino, Pesarik, Rodgers, and Thomas—qualifying for the prestigious All-New England Preparatory Schools Track Association All-Star Meet, capping off a season of hard work, outstanding finishes, and excellent sportsmanship.

Boys Varsity Soccer

Record: 5-8-4

The Boys Varsity Soccer team had a competitive season, starting with a 0-0 draw against Watkinson School. After a few hard-fought losses, the team bounced back with wins over Oxford Academy and the American School for the Deaf, as well as ties against Christian Heritage School and The Harvey School. Key performances from Henry Champagne ’26, Henry Gallagher ’25, Baker Katko ’25, Liam Kelly ’27, Brian Li ’25, and Finn McCann ’25 led the team to an impressive winning streak against Oxford Academy and Forman School. These victories allowed them to enter the playoffs with five wins, demonstrating their determination and teamwork.

The JV/Middle School Soccer team had a season marked by hard work and growth. Competing against opponents like Rectory School, Wheeler School, Pine Point School, and The Country School, the girls emphasized communication and teamwork in every game. Standout performances came from Veronica Falkenstein ’29, Greta Field ’30, Gabby Ivy ’28, Emilia Leeming ’29, Sanjana Naik ’29, Bella Pepas ’28, and Claire Xenellis ’29. Overall, it was a strong and successful season for the team.

JV/Middle School Cross Country

Record: 4-2

The JV/MS Cross Country team had an impressive season, highlighted by standout performances from Lena Cosentino ’29 and Finn Pesarik ’30, who competed on both the JV and Varsity teams. The team delivered strong results at the Coed and The Country School Invitationals. On Fall Sports Day, Pesarik and Hutch Walsh ’30 finished strong in the boys’ race, while Cosentino topped the girls’ race. The season ended with both teams earning first-place finishes in their final race against Pine Point, with Cosentino and Walsh leading the way.

Boys JV/Middle School Soccer

Record: 4-5-2

The Boys JV/Middle School Soccer team showed impressive growth this year, starting strong with standout performances from Nick Cosentino ’30, Nico Field ’28, Nanak Patel ’30, Marek Soboleski ’28, and Julian Thorn ’30. As the season progressed, the boys continued their success, highlighted by a 5-1 victory over The Country School. Key contributions came from Cosentino, Jake Gjonaj ’30, and Soboleski, as well as strong defensive play from Shawn Decastro ’31, Eli Feltzer ’30, and Tony Raynor ’30. Valentin Vasquez ’30 showcased incredible speed, supported by Ian Chester ’31 and Kai Hurst-Ruales ’30. The team displayed excellent teamwork and skill throughout the season.
