The Williams School is excited to announce that it has broken ground on its brand new Tennis and Pickleball Center located at our Bloomingdale Road Athletic Complex in Quaker Hill. This state-of-the-art facility will support our expanding competitive and developmental tennis programs while providing high-quality courts for the entire community. Construction is now underway on the multi-court complex, which is slated to open this Spring 2026.
A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Spring Spirit Weekend in April 2026, when families, alumni, and community members will be invited to celebrate this milestone and experience the new facility firsthand. The new Center will feature six dedicated tennis courts and four pickleball courts, designed to meet the needs of the School’s growing tennis and racquet sports programs.
This project marks an important phase in The Williams School’s broader campaign for institutional growth and enrichment of our two campuses – at Connecticut College and our second 200-acre campus on Bloomingdale Road – both devoted to growth of Williams academic, athletics, and arts programs. Development of the Tennis and Pickleball Center is being completed in partnership with Whiting Turner Contracting Company.
Athletic Director Heather DeLaurentis (also a science teacher and parent of two alums at Williams) has substantially grown the School’s athletic program in the last three years. She states, “At Williams, we are always looking for ways to inspire young adults to grow their capacity to move, play, and apply their learning skills beyond the classroom. Enriching our sports programs is key to transferring these skills and fostering student growth.”
As The Williams School embraces progressive development of its people, programs, and places, the new Tennis and Pickleball Center is one of many initiatives for progressive growth.
