The Interdisciplinary Certificate Program is designed for motivated students who are eager to pursue focused academic interests.

• Open to students in grades 10–12 who are admitted before the start of sophomore year.

• Incoming sophomores may also apply.

• Applicants must demonstrate strong academic standing and uphold Williams’ standards of Scholarship, Character, and Community.

• The application process includes a written submission and an interview with faculty and administrators during the spring of freshman year as part of course selection.

Participation in the Interdisciplinary Certificate Program is included as part of a student’s Williams education.

• There is no additional tuition or program fee.

• Participation is included within each student’s annual enrollment contract.

Yes. Students may apply to and participate in both programs while working closely with faculty advisors, College Counseling, and the Director of Upper School Teaching & Learning to support thoughtful course planning.

The program provides opportunities for focused elective coursework connected to students’ interests while incorporating research, professional experience, and development of an individual digital portfolio. Students also receive guidance and connections to Williams alumni and professionals working within their field of interest.

Interdisciplinary Certificates provide students with opportunities for leadership, community engagement, and deeper academic exploration. The program strengthens college applications and resumes while helping students develop insight into possible majors, future areas of study, and career research.

Students are encouraged to select electives aligned with their certificate focus while fulfilling graduation requirements and exploring areas connected to their interests.
