Tuition and Financial Aid

The Williams School offers need-based tuition assistance to help make a Williams education accessible to families with demonstrated financial need, subject to the availability of funds.

Williams uses the Clarity Application to assess a family’s financial need based on information including income, assets, expenses, and debts. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete, is mobile-friendly, and can be saved and resumed at any time. A $60 submission fee applies, and families may share the same application with other participating schools at no additional cost.

After submitting the Clarity Application, families must return to their dashboard to upload the additional tax documentation required by Williams.

Need-based grants are determined through a financial needs assessment by Clarity and The Williams School Tuition Assistance Committee and are awarded at the time of admission. Grants may be renewed each year provided the student remains in comparable academic and citizenship standing and the family’s demonstrated financial need remains comparable.

Williams does not offer need-based tuition assistance that covers the full cost of tuition. Our Enrollment Team works closely with families to explore available options for making a Williams education possible.

SCC Merit Award Grants are available to newly accepted students who demonstrate exceptional achievement in Williams’ Core Values of Scholarship, Character, and Community, along with the potential to continue that achievement as members of the Williams community.

Students do not apply separately for SCC Merit Award Grants. Recipients are selected by Williams’ Admissions and Tuition Grant Committees through a comprehensive review of each student’s application and are notified at the time of admission.

Awards are renewable each year a student re-enrolls at Williams, provided the recipient continues to demonstrate high levels of Scholarship, Character, and Community.

A tuition discount is available to eligible full-time Connecticut College employees whose children enroll at The Williams School.

The Williams School requires all families to use the FACTS Tuition Payment Plan service for tuition payments.

Students are enrolled for the full school year, and tuition is not refundable in cases of withdrawal or dismissal. Additional details are provided in each student’s acceptance packet.

Tuition Refund Insurance, provided by A.W.G. Dewar Co., is required for all domestic students unless tuition is paid in full by August 1 and the family elects to waive coverage.

Students who enroll after the first day of school are not eligible to participate in the Tuition Refund Insurance program. Additional details are provided in each student’s acceptance packet.
