The twelfth annual Pamela Lancaster Pettinari ’77 Memorial Golf Tournament took place at the Great Neck Country Club in Waterford, Connecticut, on September 16. This tournament honors the legacy of Pamela Lancaster Pettinari ’77, the School’s first African American teacher. Proceeds from registration, raffle prizes, and donations support the Pamela Lancaster Pettinari Scholarship Fund, which is now endowed at over $250,000.

Brian Mezzi, Director of Development and Alumni Engagement, coordinated the event for the third time. “I truly enjoy working with the Lancaster family and the tournament committee to help put on this incredible annual event. The fact that registration fills up so quickly is a testament to the family’s dedication, Pam’s lasting legacy, and the profound impact of the scholarship fund,” Mezzi said.

Pettinari’s legacy continues through the scholarship fund and the unwavering support from her family, who actively volunteer. Her sister, Gilda Butler, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support from the community, stating, “We, the Lancaster family, and The Williams School have formed a friendship that we cherish. Williams has always shown us great love, and we could not be prouder to be part of the PLP Golf Tournament.”

Looking ahead, the thirteenth annual Pamela Lancaster Pettinari ’77 Memorial Golf Tournament is slated for Monday, September 15, 2025, promising to continue the tradition of honoring a beloved educator and supporting future generations.
